Palestine - Token “Payment for Poultry Slaughter” - Very Rare A very rare charity or service token, likely issued in the late 19th or early 20th century by a religious or communal institution, used as a symbolic payment or voucher for kosher poultry slaughter (Shechita Dakah). The term “Shechita Dakah” refers to the ritual slaughter of fowl, as opposed to “Shechita Gasah” for cattle. Such tokens were commonly used in Jewish communities in Palestine and the diaspora to manage and regulate payments and donations for religious services. This piece is of great historical and cultural significance, reflecting the organized communal and religious life of Jewish society in the early modern era of the Land of Israel. Obverse: Hebrew inscription in three lines: “שכר שחיטה דקה” (“Payment for Poultry Slaughter”), within a square border. Reverse: Blank.
