Palestine / Early Israel - Pair of “Ruth and Boaz” Pendants - Bezalel, One Silver and One Copper-Nickel
Palestine / Early Israel - Pair of “Ruth and Boaz” Pendants - Bezalel, One Silver and One Copper-Nickel A pair of artistic pendants, hand-crafted in the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts, Jerusalem, dating from the 1930s-1950s. Both pieces depict the biblical story of Ruth and Boaz, rendered in a detailed Bezalel-style composition with figures, palm trees, and pastoral landscapes. One side shows Ruth standing with a sheaf of wheat, inscribed “Ruth” in Hebrew. The reverse features Ruth and Boaz meeting in the field, surrounded by animals and natural scenery. One pendant is made of silver, signed in Hebrew “כסף” (Silver), while the other is made of copper-nickel, unsigned but identical in design and craftsmanship. Such pendants were often produced as Bezalel souvenir jewelry, blending biblical motifs with early Zionist artistry.
