Judaica / Zionism - Great Britain, "The Queen Victoria Medal" School Award Medal - 1899 - Silver

Judaica / Zionism - Great Britain, "The Queen Victoria Medal" School Award Medal - 1899 - Silver An impressive British school medal from the reign of Queen Victoria, awarded in 1899 for punctual attendance during the school year. The medal retains its original suspension bar engraved with the year “1899” and represents an attractive historical piece from the late British Empire period. Obverse: Left-facing portrait of Queen Victoria with the inscriptions: “THE QUEEN VICTORIA MEDAL” and “SCHOOL BOARD FOR LONDON”. Reverse: Oak wreath surrounding the award inscription: “AWARDED TO M. SECNONWITZ FOR PUNCTUAL ATTENDANCE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR ENDED A.D. 1898”. At the bottom appears the maker’s name: “Vaughton, Birmingham”. A beautiful historical and educational medal, with possible Jewish association through the surname Secnonwitz.
