Judaica / Zionism - Argentina - 3rd Maccabi Games in Mendoza - 1961 - Star of David, Israeli Flag Motif and Enamel A Jewish-Zionist participation or award medal from Argentina, issued for the 3rd Maccabi Games held in Mendoza in 1961. The medal has a particularly strong connection to the Maccabi movement and Jewish-Zionist identity: the medal itself is formed as a Star of David, while its center features a blue-and-white flag bearing an additional Star of David and a stylized Maccabi emblem/inscription. Obverse: Star of David-shaped medal decorated with light-blue and white enamel. At center is a flag on a pole, likewise rendered in blue and white, containing a Star of David with a stylized inscription. The design prominently combines Jewish symbolism with colors associated with the Israeli flag. Reverse: Spanish inscription: "3ª MACABIADA ARGENTINA MENDOZA 1961" ("3rd Argentine Maccabi Games - Mendoza - 1961"). The medal is fitted with a suspension loop and ring. Showing age and handling marks, including light scratches and changes to the metal's toning; the enamel is largely preserved.
