Judaica / Zionism - Argentina - 3rd Maccabiada of Maccabi Argentina Medal - Mendoza 1961 - Star of David, Maccabi Flag and Enamel A Jewish sporting participation or commemorative medal from Argentina, issued for the 3rd Maccabiada of Maccabi Argentina, held in Mendoza in 1961. The piece has a clear connection to the Maccabi movement and organized Jewish sporting activity in Argentina and is itself fashioned in the form of a Star of David. Obverse: Large Star of David decorated with light blue and white enamel. At center is a Maccabi flag incorporating a smaller Star of David and the Hebrew inscription: "מכבי" ("Maccabi"). The combination of the Star of David, blue-and-white colors and Maccabi flag strongly emphasizes the medal's Jewish and Zionist character. Reverse: Spanish inscription: "3ª MACABIADA ARGENTINA MENDOZA 1961" ("3rd Maccabiada - Argentina - Mendoza - 1961"). Decorative Star of David-shaped medal with suspension loop, gold-colored metal and light blue and white enamel. Showing handling marks, scratches and light age-related patina.
