Israel - Pair of State Medals 2009 - Tel Aviv-Jaffa Centennial - Silver 925 and Bronze, 49g Each (approx. 45.33g pure silver, 1.46 oz) - Colourised Proof A pair of Israel State Medals issued in 2009 to commemorate the centennial of the founding of Tel Aviv. The medals contrast the city’s early beginnings with its modern skyline, illustrating its development from a small settlement on the coastal sands into one of Israel’s principal metropolitan centres. Obverse: The official Tel Aviv-Jaffa centennial logo appears alongside the municipal emblem and the name TEL AVIV YAFO in Hebrew and English. The historic Bialik House, one of the city’s best-known early buildings, is depicted below. Selected elements of the design are colourised. Reverse: The modern Tel Aviv skyline as viewed from the sea, with sailing boats in the foreground. The lower section depicts the historic lottery through which the plots of Ahuzat Bayit were allocated. The inscriptions "מאה שנה התרס"ט-תשס"ט" and CENTENNIAL 1909-2009 appear above. The medals were designed by Yigal Gabay.
