Obverse In the center, in a round and concave depression - a palm tree. To his right is a man planting a sapling and to his left a woman raising a child in a gesture of joy. Around the top, there is an inscription in Hebrew, "Liberated Israel 5708", and below it is an English inscription in the year 1948. Reverse From a steeply engraved circle of a Roman coin minted by Aspicanus in memory of his victory over Judah in 70 CE In the center of the coin is a seven-spindle tree and two fruit clusters (the palm tree was a common symbol of Judah in those days and appeared on many Hebrew coins). And on the right of the Roman coin appears a Latin inscription "Judaea Capeta" (the captive Judah), and below are two Roman letters, which are initials of the words in the command of the Senate. On the rim of the medal are chains symbolizing me, and in Hebrew, Judah the captive captive, and in English, Judah the captive 70 CE.
