Israel - 10 Lirot 1971 - "Let My People Go" - Silver 900, 26g (23.4g pure silver, 0.75 oz), 37 mm Special issue coin, 1971. Events in the State of Israel were always close to the hearts of Soviet Jews, but the Six-Day War greatly strengthened Jewish national consciousness throughout the Soviet Union. Following Israel’s victory, pride and identification with the Jewish people intensified, leading to the formation of Hebrew study groups and circles dedicated to Jewish history and Zionism. This awakening developed into an open national movement advocating Jewish emigration to Israel. The slogan "Let My People Go" became the symbolic rallying cry of the struggle for freedom among Soviet Jewry. Obverse: To the right of the State emblem appears the denomination "10 Israeli Lirot". At the lower left appears the date "1971". Along the rim appears the word "Israel" in Hebrew, Arabic and Latin letters. Reverse: A fence stretches across the entire design, with a circle symbolizing the sun visible beyond it. On the right side appears the slogan "Let My People Go" in Hebrew and English.
