Israel - 1 Pruta 1949 - With Pearl - KM# 9 - NGC MS 65 A variety of the first Israeli Pruta coin, commonly referred to by collectors as the “With Pearl” variety, due to the rounded raised dot appearing at the lower part of the oval on the denomination side, beneath the date. The present example is graded MS 65 by NGC, representing a particularly high state of preservation for this type. The coin displays strong original luster, sharp details and outstanding overall eye appeal. The pruta entered circulation in 1949 following the replacement of the mil, becoming one of the first coin denominations issued by the young State of Israel. Obverse: Stylized anchor design with the inscription “Israel” in Hebrew and Arabic. Reverse: Denomination “1 Pruta” within a wreath of stylized olive branches. The first Israeli pruta coins were struck in 1949 as part of the first official coinage series issued by the State of Israel after independence.
