Mintage: 5,000 “The Fall of Jericho’s Walls” coin, dated 2025, the twenty-ninth issue in the “Biblical Art” series and legal tender issued by the Bank of Israel. The coin commemorates one of the most dramatic and iconic events in the Bible - the miraculous fall of the walls of Jericho as the Israelites entered the Land of Canaan. After forty years of wandering in the wilderness, the Israelites arrived at the gates of the Promised Land. Jericho, a heavily fortified city surrounded by massive walls, stood in their path. Instead of launching a conventional military assault, Joshua son of Nun received an extraordinary divine command: for six days the Israelites were to march around the city once each day while priests carried the Ark of the Covenant and sounded shofars. On the seventh day they were to circle the city seven times, and after a great blast and shout, the walls would collapse. The Israelites followed the command precisely, and after the final sounding of the shofars and the mighty cry of the people, the walls of Jericho miraculously fell. The story became a timeless symbol of faith, perseverance, and the triumph of spirit over physical might. The reverse depicts the walls of Jericho beginning to collapse. In the lower section appear the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant and blowing shofars as they march around the city. The design captures the dramatic climax of the biblical narrative. The obverse features the State emblem, the denomination, the name of Israel in Hebrew, English, and Arabic, the year of issue, and the mint mark. Around the rim appears the inscription “The Fall of Jericho’s Walls” in the three languages, while beside the denomination appears a figure of one of the priests blowing a shofar.
