Israel - 1 New Sheqel 2018 - Isaac and Rebecca - Gold 999, 1.244g (0.04 oz pure gold), 13.92mm Only 10% Commission + VAT on this item. Mintage: 192 “Isaac and Rebecca” coin, dated 2018, the twenty-second issue in the “Biblical Art” series and legal tender issued by the Bank of Israel. The coin depicts one of the best-known biblical stories of kindness and love - the meeting of Rebecca and Isaac. At the well, Rebecca impressed Eliezer, Abraham’s servant, with her generosity and noble character when she drew water for him and for his camels after their long journey from Canaan. Eliezer recognized her as worthy of becoming Isaac’s wife. After receiving her family’s consent, Rebecca joined the camel caravan traveling south to the Negev to meet Isaac. The Bible describes the emotional encounter: “And Isaac went out ... at evening time ... and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and behold, the camels were coming...” (Genesis 24:63). Rebecca saw Isaac approaching, descended from her camel, and asked Eliezer, “Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?” and Eliezer answered, “It is my master.” The coin commemorates this timeless biblical story of kindness, faith, and devotion, one of the central narratives in the Book of Genesis and Jewish tradition. The reverse depicts, on the left, a figure representing Isaac. At the center stands Eliezer leading the camel upon which Rebecca is seated, gazing toward Isaac. Two tents appear in the background, symbolizing the patriarchal desert encampments. The obverse features the State emblem, the denomination, the name of Israel in Hebrew, English, and Arabic, the year of issue, and the mint mark. Around the rim appears the inscription “Isaac and Rebecca” in Hebrew and English, together with decorative motifs of camels and a water jug.
