Iraq - 100 Dinar 1931 - PMG 25 - VERY RARE - Low serial number, one out of the 11 known banknotes of this value. These notes are like the preceding issues, but the portrait has been changed to that of King Ghazi (who assumed the throne on 8 September 1933 following the death—from heart attack—of his father, King Faisal I), they are not dated, the signatures no longer appear on the back, and now there are only two signatures per note, not three. this is the highest denomination was intended mainly for large interbank and governmental transfers, as indicated by the gap between the 10 Dinar and 100 Dinar values. Thus as most notes were held by financial institutions, a larger proportion was exchanged for new designs, leaving extant an example as pretty as it is very elusive. Scarce with only nine examples registered in the PMG Population Report, and none above a Very Fine 30 grade Observe: Arabic text; King Ghazi in military uniform Reserve: English text; guilloches.
