The series commemorates the historical process that led to German reunification, from the period following the fall of the Berlin Wall to the official completion of reunification on 3 October 1990. The bars depict key themes from the period, including Alexanderplatz, the fall of the Wall and the Trabant, welcome money, Helmut Kohl, freedom of travel, the Volkskammer election, monetary union, Germany’s football World Cup victory, the Unification Treaty, the Two Plus Four Agreement, Berlin, and a general symbol of German unity.
