The design is based on the celebrated work of Augustin Dupré and is regarded as one of the most iconic coin designs of the French Republic. Both coins are struck in .900 silver. Obverse: The allegorical figures of Hercules, Liberty, and Equality are depicted at the center beneath the national motto of France. The designer's signature appears below the design.
