Canada - 5 Dollars 2023 - Silver Maple Leaf - Queen Elizabeth II Memorial 1952-2022 - .9999 Silver, 1 Troy Ounce (31.11 g) A silver bullion coin from the Silver Maple Leaf series, issued in 2023 by the Royal Canadian Mint. The coin is struck in .9999 fine silver and weighs one troy ounce - 31.11 grams. It has a face value of 5 Canadian dollars. The 2023 issue features a special transition obverse commemorating Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022 after a reign of 70 years. The obverse bears the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt, and the inscriptions: ELIZABETH II 5 DOLLARS 2023 The dates 1952 and 2022 appear to the left of the portrait, representing the years of the Queen’s reign. Four pearls between the dates symbolize the four effigies of Queen Elizabeth II that appeared on Canadian coinage during her reign. Royal Canadian Mint The reverse features Canada’s iconic maple leaf and the inscriptions: CANADA 9999 FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR 9999 A small laser micro-engraved maple leaf appears near the bottom as a security feature. The numeral 23 at its centre denotes the year of issue. Precisely machined radial lines form a distinctive light-diffracting pattern and provide an additional anti-counterfeiting element. The coin incorporates BULLION DNA™ authentication technology and MINTSHIELD™ surface protection, developed to reduce the appearance of white spots commonly associated with silver bullion coins. No fixed maximum mintage was established.
